How IU South Bend prepares you
Indiana University South Bend's career training site offers Microsoft Excel Certification Training, a self-paced online course of 70 course hours that you have six months to complete. The campus's page says: “This course prepares you for the Microsoft Office Specialist Expert certification exam for Microsoft Excel.”
It is specific about the exam: on completion you “will be prepared for the Microsoft Excel Expert certification exam, Exam MO-201 (for Microsoft Office 2019/2021 users), or Exam MO-211 (for Microsoft Office 365 users.)” Enrolment is offered with or without an exam voucher.
The course is non-credit. It ends in a Certificate of Completion, sits outside IU South Bend's degree programs, and nothing at the campus depends on taking it or passing the exam. The certification is something the course aims you at; whether you sit the exam is your choice.

Why the certification is worth having
- Excel Expert is the certification that separates building a workbook from using one: PivotTables, advanced lookups, LET, macros. It is verifiable with Microsoft, which a line on a resume is not.
- Six months of self-paced material is a long time to go without knowing whether you could pass. A timed practice exam partway through tells you which parts of the syllabus still need work, before the voucher is on the line.
- A MOS certification does not expire, so a pass is a credential you keep.

The course carries no academic credit and ends in a Certificate of Completion. Nothing on IU South Bend's page ties it to a major, a grade or graduation.
IU South Bend's page says MO-201 for Office 2019/2021 users and MO-211 for Microsoft 365 users. Our practice exams are built for MO-211. On Office 2019 or 2021, the exam you would sit is MO-201, and our practice is not built for it. Proctor fees may also apply on top of the voucher, the page notes.

Which exam does the course prepare me for?
