How ACU prepares you
Abilene Christian University's career training site offers Microsoft Excel Certification Training, a self-paced online course of 70 course hours with six months to finish. ACU's page says plainly: “This course prepares you for the Microsoft Office Specialist Expert certification exam for Microsoft Excel.”
It names the exam too: on completion you “will be prepared for the Microsoft Excel Expert certification exam, Exam MO-201 (for Microsoft Office 2019/2021 users), or Exam MO-211 (for Microsoft Office 365 users.)” You can enrol with or without an exam voucher.
This is a non-credit course. It ends in a Certificate of Completion, not academic credit, and nothing at ACU, in any degree or program, depends on taking it or passing the exam. It is preparation you choose to buy, and whether to sit the exam afterwards is up to you.

Why the certification is worth having
- The Expert exam is the harder of the two Excel certifications, and it is the one employers read as "can actually build things" rather than "can use Excel". It is checkable with Microsoft, not a line you wrote yourself.
- A 70-hour course tells you what to learn; it does not tell you whether you can do it in 50 minutes. If you buy the voucher option, a timed practice exam first is the cheapest way to avoid spending that voucher on a first attempt you were not ready for.
- A MOS certification does not expire, so passing once is a credential you keep.
The course is sold through ACU's career training site, not the academic catalog. It carries no academic credit and ends in a Certificate of Completion. Nothing on ACU's page ties it to a major, a grade or graduation.
ACU's page says the course prepares you for MO-201 if you use Office 2019/2021, or MO-211 if you use Microsoft 365. Our practice exams are built for MO-211. If you are on Office 2019 or 2021, the exam you would sit is MO-201, and our practice is not built for it.
ACU's page says the voucher is “prepaid access to sit for the certifying exam upon eligibility” and that proctor fees may apply and are not included. Budget for that before you book.

Does ACU require the MOS Excel Expert certification?
No. ACU's career training site offers a non-credit course that it says “prepares you for the Microsoft Office Specialist Expert certification exam for Microsoft Excel”. Nothing on that page makes the course or the exam a condition of any ACU degree, grade or program.
Which exam does ACU's course prepare me for?
The Excel Expert exam. ACU's page says MO-201 if you use Office 2019/2021, and MO-211 if you use Microsoft 365. We build practice for MO-211, so this page is for the Microsoft 365 track.
Is this practice exam the same as the real MOS exam?
No. No third party has Microsoft's live item bank. Ours is built to the same published objective domains, in the same 50-minute format, and graded task by task, so it tells you where you actually stand.
